Fall Prevention Awareness

Falls are one of the most common and serious health risks for older people, often resulting in long-term injury, reduced independence, and even death. In the UK, over 70,000 hip fractures occur each year due to falls, and the impact on individuals, families, and health services is significant.

This Fall Prevention Awareness training course is designed to help care staff and professionals working with older or vulnerable individuals understand why falls happen, how to assess risk, and what can be done to reduce both the frequency and severity of falls.

Learners will explore the physical, environmental, and behavioural factors that contribute to falls, along with effective prevention strategies—including supervision, risk assessments, and safe care practices. The course also highlights the emotional impact of falls and how to support individuals in regaining confidence and independence.
