Personal Care
Personal Care training supports staff to deliver safe, respectful, and compassionate care as the number of people requiring daily support continues to grow. Personal care plays a vital role in maintaining health, comfort, and dignity. This course gives health and social care staff the knowledge, confidence, and practical understanding needed to support individuals with routine personal care in a person-centred and professional way.
The training explores how to support individuals with essential personal care activities. These include bathing and washing, oral hygiene, foot and nail care, continence support, and pressure area care. Throughout the course, learners focus on maintaining privacy, dignity, choice, and independence, even when individuals require high levels of support.
In addition, the course covers infection prevention and control, safe working practices, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Learners also develop awareness of early warning signs that may indicate health concerns. These include skin breakdown, dehydration, pressure damage, and signs of sepsis, helping staff act promptly and appropriately.
This Personal Care training course supports best practice in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) expectations around dignity, consent, safety, and person-centred care. It also aligns with relevant standards of the Skills for Care Care Certificate, making it suitable for both new starters and experienced care staff.
The course is ideal for care workers, support workers, healthcare assistants, and anyone involved in delivering hands-on personal care in care homes, domiciliary care, supported living, and community settings. It is suitable for induction training as well as refresher learning.
