Prima Cura Training delivers First Aid training for schools across Greater Manchester and the North West, designed specifically for education settings. Our courses support staff to meet expectations around safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and emergency response, while fitting realistically around the school day.
Schools have a legal and moral responsibility to keep children safe. When an incident happens staff need the confidence to act quickly, calmly & correctly.
First Aid Training Designed for Education Settings
Schools are not standard workplaces. Children and young people present different risks, different medical needs & different emotional considerations.
Our First Aid training is tailored to:
- Classroom environments
- Playgrounds and outdoor learning
- PE and school sport
- School trips and enrichment activities
- Pupils with medical conditions or additional needs
Training is practical, scenario-based, and grounded in real situations that school staff recognise.
Supporting Safeguarding, EYFS and Inspection Expectations
High quality First Aid training supports wider safeguarding and wellbeing responsibilities.
Our courses help schools demonstrate that:
- Staff are trained and competent to respond to medical emergencies
- Training is appropriate to the age range of pupils
- Staff understand their role in keeping children safe
This aligns with expectations set by Ofsted, particularly around safeguarding, staff training, and risk management.
For Early Years settings, our Paediatric First Aid training supports EYFS requirements, including the expectation that staff are trained to respond to illness and injury involving babies and young children.
Paediatric First Aid for Schools and Early Years
Paediatric First Aid is essential for:
- Nurseries and pre-schools
- Reception and Key Stage 1
- Wraparound and after-school care
- Holiday clubs and enrichment provision
Our Paediatric First Aid training focuses on infants and children and covers scenarios that are more likely to occur in school and Early Years environments.

Frequently Asked Questions – First Aid Training for Schools
Is First Aid training a requirement for schools?
While there is no single legal requirement for all school staff to hold First Aid certificates, schools are expected to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place to manage medical emergencies. This expectation is reflected in safeguarding guidance and inspection frameworks used by Ofsted, particularly around staff competence and pupil safety.
Is Paediatric First Aid different from standard First Aid?
Yes. Paediatric First Aid focuses specifically on infants, children & adolescence. It covers age appropriate CPR, choking, illnesses & injuries. Standard First Aid courses are designed for adults and/or workplace settings, so schools often need a combination of both, depending on staff roles.
Can First Aid training be delivered on site at our school?
Yes. We deliver First Aid training on site at your school, reducing disruption and allowing training to reflect your environment, policies & pupil needs. This also makes it easier for staff to practise realistic scenarios they may encounter.
How often does school First Aid training need to be renewed?
First Aid certificates are valid for three years. Regular refreshers are recommended to keep skills and confidence up to date, particularly in busy school environments where emergencies may be rare but serious.
Do you cover Greater Manchester and the North West?
Yes. We regularly deliver First Aid training across Greater Manchester and the wider North West. If your school is outside these areas, you are welcome to contact us to discuss availability.
