Why This Page Exists
When you’re choosing a training provider, you’re not just buying a course.
You’re trusting someone to deliver something that could affect safety, legal compliance and, in some cases, life-saving decisions.
This page explains exactly how quality, compliance and oversight work at Prima Cura Training.
It sets out the governance framework behind every course we deliver. Quality isn’t something we say, it’s something we evidence.
Clear Accountability
Overall responsibility for quality and compliance sits with me, Stephanie Austin, as Owner and Lead Trainer. Having worked within health and social care and First Aid environments for over two decades, I remain directly involved in quality oversight.
That responsibility is not symbolic. It is operational and documented.
Quality assurance is supported through:
- Independent Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)
- External Quality Assurance (EQA) through awarding organisations
- Annual independent trainer review where the Awarding Organisation (AO) standards apply
Independent IQA means assessment decisions are reviewed by a qualified Internal Quality Assurer who was not involved in the original assessment. That separation protects integrity.
All core policies are reviewed:
- Annually as a minimum
- Immediately, if statutory guidance changes
- Following any systemic concern
Governance here is active, documented and monitored.
Awarding Bodies & External Oversight
Where regulated qualifications are delivered, we operate within recognised awarding organisation frameworks.
We currently work within:
- WorkSafe Training Systems – awarding organisation for First Aid and Fire Marshal qualifications (annual EQA and mandatory CPD requirements)
- Nuco Training Ltd – regulated qualifications delivered via associate trainers holding approved centre status (subject to Nuco EQA; reports retained)
- First Aid Industry Body – registered provider (listed under Greater Manchester)
- Healthcare Trainers Network – approved trainer membership
- CPD Assessed – CPD certification
Most recent EQA outcomes (reports retained and available on request) show compliance with no sanctions/action plans issued.
Approval confirmations, registration details and QA reports are retained and available for legitimate audit or procurement review.
Where awarding organisations apply, their malpractice, appeals and regulatory procedures take precedence.
Assessment Integrity & Standardisation
Assessment decisions are:
- Based strictly on published criteria
- Documented in line with the awarding organisation requirements
- Sampled internally every six months
- Reviewed independently through IQA
- Subject to EQA oversight where applicable
We maintain:
- A trainer’s competence matrix
- CPD logs for all trainers
- Annual compliance review for associate trainers
- Assessment outcome documentation
- A curriculum update log
- Subscription to AO qualification updates
Pass rates remain aligned with awarding organisation benchmarks.
Learner satisfaction is consistently high, which is evidenced & recorded after every session (anonymous and named). Feedback data is retained and methodologically tracked.
If feedback highlights an issue, it triggers a documented investigation and corrective action. Improvements are logged with review dates and recorded outcomes.
We do not wait for problems to improve.
For full details on how concerns are investigated, reviewed and escalated, please see our Complaints & Appeals Policy.
Why Some Courses Must Be Delivered In Person
We are clear about delivery formats.
For regulated workplace First Aid qualifications, such as:
We follow guidance set out by the Health and Safety Executive, including HSE L74: First Aid at Work – Approved Code of Practice and Guidance.
These standards require supervised practical assessment and demonstrable competence.
We also align with guidance from The Resuscitation Council UK for CPR and AED training.
Blended options are available where compliant. Fully online delivery is not offered for regulated qualifications because it would not meet the required standards.
Some additional courses, especially Health & Social Care, are delivered face-to-face where:
- Practical competency must be assessed
- The subject matter is sensitive
- Group discussion and scenario practice are essential
Standards come first. Always.
Care Sector & Regulated Environment Alignment
We regularly deliver training within:
- CQC-regulated care settings
- NHS environments under contract arrangements
- Large national providers, including G4S
Delivery may be direct or through structured partnership arrangements, depending on contract requirements.
Our Health & Social Care training, including Care Certificate programmes, is mapped to standards published by Skills for Care, where applicable.
Where relevant, we align with guidance from:
- National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)
- Resuscitation Council UK
- Health and Safety Executive
- Statutory safeguarding frameworks
We are clear about what is regulated, what is accredited and what is CPD-based. Transparency matters.
Safeguarding & Professional Standards
Safeguarding is embedded in our delivery. We maintain:
- A named Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Enhanced DBS checks for all trainers
- Annual safeguarding refresher training
- Lone working safeguards
- Online delivery safeguarding protocols
Where safeguarding thresholds are met, statutory duties override internal processes. For full details on safeguarding responsibilities, reporting routes and escalation procedures, please see our Safeguarding Policy.
All trainers:
- Hold subject-matter competence
- Hold recognised teaching and assessment qualifications
- Maintain ongoing CPD
- Are subject to independent review where awarding bodies apply
Professional standards are not optional extras. They are baseline expectations.
Risk Management & Insurance
Prima Cura Training holds:
- £5 million Public Liability Insurance
- £5 million Professional Indemnity Insurance
Delivery includes:
- Dynamic risk assessment
- Host site induction expectations
- Lone working safeguards
- Online safeguarding checks
Insurance certificates can be supplied promptly upon request.
Data Protection & Record Retention
We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ZA763319.
We operate in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Retention standards include:
- Complaints retained for 3 years
- Safeguarding records are stored securely on encrypted systems and retained in line with legal, insurance and safeguarding best practice guidance.
- Assessment documentation retained in line with awarding body requirements
- Secure, encrypted record storage
Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
Continuous Improvement
We monitor:
- Learner feedback after every session
- Quarterly review of complaints and appeals
- Six-monthly QA sampling
- Awarding organisation EQA outcomes
- Trainer CPD compliance
Improvement actions are tracked with review dates and documented outcomes.
We improve deliberately, not reactively.
Compliance Documentation
We maintain a structured compliance file including:
- EQA reports
- QA sampling records
- Trainer competence matrix
- CPD logs
- Complaints and appeals logs
- Insurance certificates
- Policy review records
A compliance pack is available upon request for procurement or audit review. Some documentation may be redacted in line with GDPR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you regulated by Ofqual?
We are not directly regulated by Ofqual. We operate through awarding organisations, some of which are regulated, and that oversee qualification standards, assessment integrity and EQA compliance.
How often are you audited?
Every awarding organisation we work with conducts an annual EQA. Across multiple bodies, this results in several independent quality checks each year.
Are your trainers qualified?
Yes. All trainers hold recognised teaching, training and assessment qualifications alongside subject-matter competence and ongoing CPD.
Why don’t you offer fully online First Aid?
Regulated workplace First Aid qualifications must meet HSE L74 standards and supervised practical assessment requirements. Fully online delivery would not meet those standards.
Are your certificates valid nationwide?
Yes. Certificates issued under awarding organisation frameworks are recognised nationwide in line with regulatory requirements.
