How do we support care homes and home care providers in Tooting?

Under Regulation 18 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, care providers must make sure staff receive the training they need to do their jobs competently, and CQC inspectors look for training records that match each person’s role.

We deliver the core of that on-site: Care Certificate teaching and assessing, moving and positioning people, medication, enteral feeding, safeguarding and first aid. Steph assesses the Care Certificate herself, and where a selected associate assesses, she quality-assures their decisions, holding Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance and Leading Internal Quality Assurance. Records come in a format you can show an inspector. There’s more on our care home training and first aid for health and social care settings pages.

Can you train personal assistants in the home of the person they support?

Yes, and it’s some of the most important work we do in south London. We train personal assistants employed through Personal Health Budgets and direct payments in their employer’s own home, most often Emergency First Aid at Work and moving and positioning people. Training in the actual home means the PA practises with the person, the room and the equipment they work with every day.

It’s an area Steph knows from the policy side as well: she’s a former member of the Skills for Care Personal Health Budgets Steering Committee. We’ve also worked with Ruils, the user-led charity that supports disabled people to live independently and has offices in Tooting.

What training do Upper Tooting Road’s restaurants and food businesses need?

Three areas come up again and again for food businesses:

Training for trades, construction and facilities teams

Building, refurbishment and facilities work across Wandsworth brings lifting, chemicals and changing sites. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to avoid hazardous manual handling where reasonably practicable and to assess and reduce the risk where it can’t be avoided, and training is part of that. We deliver Manual Handling (objects), COSHH and RIDDOR Awareness, Risk Assessment Essentials and First Aid at Work on-site, with scenarios built around the jobs your team actually does.

Training for Tooting schools and nurseries

Early years settings need paediatric first aid under the EYFS framework, and schools need staff who can respond to emergencies involving pupils. We deliver Paediatric First Aid, Emergency First Aid for Schools, Allergy Awareness (Benedict’s Law) for the allergy safety policy state-funded schools now need, and Safeguarding Children, all at your setting.

Why does on-site training work better in Tooting?

Sending a kitchen team, a care shift or a nursery’s early years staff across London for a day leaves the service short, and most Tooting businesses can’t run that way. On-site training removes the travel and lets you plan the day around your rota.

It also makes the learning stick. A kitchen scenario uses your kitchen. A moving and positioning session uses the beds, chairs and equipment your carers use. People practise for the place they work, so it comes back to them when it matters.

Who delivers your training, and how do we keep the standard the same?

Steph delivers in south London herself, alongside a small group of associate trainers she selects and quality-assures. Stephanie Austin has 25+ years in health and social care and 15+ years as a trainer, holds an Ofqual-regulated teaching qualification, and has delivered training on the St George’s Hospital campus in Tooting.

Every associate is recruited through safer recruitment and holds an Enhanced DBS check. Steph observes delivery, quality-assures assessment decisions and rings the client after every course to talk through how it went. 98.9% of learners rated their training good or excellent (based on submitted learner feedback, 1 January to 30 June 2026), and our statistics are updated every six months, in January and July. Steph won Health and Wellbeing Leader at the Biz Women Awards 2025, and Prima Cura Training was runner-up in two categories at the Female Business Awards 2026. You can read how we manage quality on our Quality and Compliance page.

Questions Tooting organisations ask before booking

Is health and safety training a legal requirement for Tooting employers?

Yes. Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires every employer to provide the information, instruction, training and supervision their staff need to work safely. The law doesn’t list set courses, so the right training for your team comes from your risk assessment.

Can you run training courses in Tooting at weekends or outside normal hours?

Often, yes. Care and hospitality teams rarely work nine to five, so early, late and weekend sessions can be arranged. Tell us your rota and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible.

Can one booking cover care staff and office staff?

Yes. Many organisations book a mix, such as first aid for everyone and moving and positioning for care staff only. We’ll plan the sessions so each person only does the training their role needs.

How do you quality-assure training when an associate delivers?

Associates are recruited through safer recruitment, hold Enhanced DBS checks and deliver to Prima Cura’s lesson plans. Steph observes delivery, quality-assures assessment decisions and calls the client after every course.

Do you deliver across Wandsworth and Merton?

Yes. As well as Tooting, we deliver on-site in Balham, Earlsfield, Streatham, Colliers Wood, Mitcham and the surrounding area.
