Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)


Overview

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed for lower-risk workplaces where a risk assessment has identified the need for staff to hold essential first aid and life-saving skills. This training gives learners the confidence and practical ability to respond effectively to common workplace emergencies, including injuries, sudden illness, and life-threatening situations.

This Emergency First Aid at Work course meets the requirements of the HSE Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and follows the Approved Code of Practice L74 for qualifying workplace first aiders. As a result, employers can meet their legal obligations while ensuring staff receive recognised and compliant first aid training.

Training is delivered by specialist first aid instructors with real-world experience. Learners take part in hands-on practice, realistic scenarios, and clear demonstrations using up-to-date teaching methods. Therefore, staff improve knowledge retention, build confidence, and feel prepared to act quickly and safely in an emergency.

What You Will Learn

The content of this course provides basic lifesaving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following:

  • The role of the First Aider
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Shock
  • Burns
  • Unresponsive casualty
  • Choking (adult)
  • Defibrillator pad placement
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond to prompts.

Certification

Successful candidates will receive a nationally recognised & accredited qualification valid for 3 years.
